Haverstraw Man Charged With DWI After Crashing Into Utility Pole, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed a vehicle into a utility pole, causing a fire on the road.
Officers in Rockland County responded to a fire on North Main Street in Hillcrest that broke out overnight between Friday, Nov. 18, and Saturday, Nov. 19, the Town of Ramapo Police Department reported.
Police found that a vehicle crashed into a utility pole, and a live wire caused a small fire on the roadway.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 35-year-old Haverstraw man, was the sole occupant, authorities said.

The crash took place around 1:10 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, in Fairfield County at the intersection of Putnam and Park streets in Bridgeport, said Bridgeport Police Sgt. Darryl Wilson.

In what is reportedly the largest settlement in New Jersey history, the family of an Essex County mom who was paralyzed by a falling utility pole will get $125 million from Verizon, reports say.
West Orange mom Maria Moser Meister, 50, was waiting for a bus on her way to work when a the pole fell in Union City on Jan. 23, 2017, NJ.com reports.

One Injured In Westport Rollover Crash
One person was injured during a rollover crash in Westport.
The single-vehicle crash took place around 10 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 16, on Cross Highway at the intersection of Wildwood Lane, said officials with the Town of Westport Fire Department.
First arriving units reported that all occupants were out of the vehicle, and one person received treatment from emergency services, fire officials said.

A 31-year-old man was injured after allegedly losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a rock wall and a utility pole.
The incident took place in Rockland on Tuesday, Jan. 7, during the early evening on Camp Hill Road in Ramapo, said police.
The driver, a Village of New Hempstead resident, lost control of his vehicle, struck a rock wall and utility pole causing the vehicle to overturn, according to police.
